class=\"op_shortdetail\"><p><b>Client: British Embassy Jakarta<\/b><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Svara Institute (formerly Presisi Indonesia) was appointed by British Embassy to conduct study on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">post<\/span><\/i><b><i>&#8211;<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">border product<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Indonesia. Product Regulatory Surveillance Regime in Indonesia including the links and complementary activities to border activity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For consumer protection, the Government of Indonesia conducts market surveillance. Currently, the framework for market surveillance is based on the Consumer Protection Law with the implementing regulation, the Minister of Trade Regulation No. 69 year 2018 concerning Surveillance of Goods and Services in Circulation.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The results of the study showed that, in spite of the clarity in the regulation, the implementation remains challenging due to capacity constraints to execute the surveillance, ranging from human resources capacity to financial constraints.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the interview with regulators and a business player, we found out that the Government had already taken some initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the market surveillance. However, we also found that there remained some areas with rooms for improvement.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this study, we provide 3 case studies, i.e., electronic home appliances, consumer health products, and clothing. The case studies conclude that even though the regulation, parameters and procedures are generally in place, the implementation remains an
