Client: Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia

Collaborating with Bappenas in 2014, we conducted a study in geographical distributional pattern of manufacturing plants in Indonesia. The study aims to map out the input output of the manufacturing industries as well as the geographical location of the manufacturers. Understanding the pattern will allow Indonesia to improve its manufacturing sector. We present a series of maps of geographical distribution of Indonesia manufacturing industries up to regency level. In addition, we also made a thorough analysis regarding the chain, from raw materials to market for output products for each sector of manufacturing industries. To our knowledge, the detailed maps showing the locations of manufactures are probably the first attempt for Indonesia so far. With the detailed maps up to regency level, we can provide a more focused policy recommendation.
